Frame Sealant
Description
Durabond Frame Sealant is an elasto-plastic one-component sealant (acrylic based dispersion) with a maximum movement accommodation of 10% for sealing joints in interior and exterior applications. Durabond Frame Sealant cures by loss of moisture and is paintable, however elastic expansion joints should not be painted. Good adhesion to most common building materials.
Typical Uses:
Sealing joints and connection joints, which are not exposed to excessive movements: between plaster, concrete, masonry, brickwork, anodised aluminium, gypsum. PVC and wood - e.g. for sealing around interior door and window frames, fitted furniture, sealing lightweight walls etc.
Decorating and renovation work, i.e. sealing gaps around skirting boards, plasterboard, staircases, wall boards, architrave and coving, sealing gaps and cracks in plastered walls and ceiling, filling cracks in plaster and wood.
Durabond Frame Sealant should not be used in sanitary areas, on marble/natural stone, on bituminous substrates and untreated (not primed) metallic substrates.

Preparation of Surfaces Surfaces & Application
to which Durabond Frame Sealant is to aha to must be dry, clean and free from dust, oil and grease. In the case of renovation work, old sealant as well as old paints must be removed completely.
It is recommended that a suitable back-up material be applied (closed cell polyethylene backer rod or PE-foil) to the bottom of the joint in order to prevent sticking of the sealant to the back of the joint.
Application of the sealant during extreme temperature variations should be avoided.
For perimeter pointing where a fillet is to be applied, the minimum measurement across must be 10mm with a minimum depth of 6mm.
External applications should not be considered if rain is imminent. If conditions are suitable for application, ensure joints are properly prepared and apply sealant firmly into the joint using an application gun. Ensure a good solid fill is achieved.
A degree of natural shrinkage will occur as a result of drying, so it is advisable to apply the sealant slightly proud of the required level to allow for this. Once applied, the sealant can be tooled with water. Surrounding surfaces and tools can be cleaned with water.
Durabond Frame Sealant can be over-painted. For best results, over-painting should be carried out after a minimum of 24 hours, thus allowing the sealant to dry out sufficiently to avoid the risk of paint cracking.

- Durabond Frame Sealant presents no known health hazards when used as recommended.
- As with all chemical products, care should be taken during use and storage to avoid contact with foodstuffs, skin, eyes, and mouth.
